Our History

Our History

We've been there. Now we're here

Our History :

In December of 2018, “AspireHope NY, Inc." became the new name of the agency formerly known as Finger Lakes Parent Network, Inc. FLPN Inc. began in 1990 as a pilot program developed by 2 Social Workers with a vision and several Parents with a dream to support and empower parents of children with mental health challenges.

Their original vision included the following principles that still hold true today:

Parents are generally doing the best they can with the resources they have.

Parents have many competencies to help their children function to the best of their ability.

Parents are equal partners with professionals in defining and making treatment decisions.

Over the years, services were added for children with developmental disabilities, teens, and adults with mental health and substance abuse challenges and the counties served expanded from 4 to 11 counties in Western NY.
Today our Mission and Vision have evolved to be inclusive of our community and their needs.

Mission

To engage individuals, families and communities in improving their own mental and physical health through services led and supported by peers who have been through relevant experiences.
